Three arrests in separate domestic violence investigations

Three men in their 30s and 40s are facing charges after Chatham-Kent police were called to investigate three different calls about intimate partner violence.

CK police said in the first case, they were called to Edgar Street in Chatham just after 4 p.m. Tuesday and learned that a man and a woman had been arguing several times recently.

Officers said they also learned that the man had allegedly assaulted and threatened the woman, so he was arrested a few hours later.

A 40-year-old Chatham man was charged with two counts of assault and one count each of uttering threats and forcible confinement. He was taken to police headquarters and was later released with conditions and a future court date.

In the second case, police were called to a domestic disturbance on Victoria Avenue in Ridgetown just after 11:30 p.m. Tuesday and learned that a man and a woman had been arguing in a vehicle in the home's driveway when the man allegedly grabbed the woman and hit her.

Police said that incident was captured on video surveillance.

As a result, a 33-year-old Toronto man was arrested and charged with assault. He was taken to police headquarters and was later released with conditions and a future court date.

In the third case, police said they arrested a 44-year-old Wallaceburg man after they were called to James Street in Wallaceburg just after 1:30 a.m. Wednesday for a domestic disturbance.

Police said when they arrived at the residence, the man was walking away.

Officers said they learned that the man was allegedly intoxicated and had been arguing with a woman when he grabbed her and pulled, causing her to fall to the floor.

The man then allegedly made a gesture indicating he would assault the woman, causing their teenage son to step in.

The Wallaceburg man was arrested, charged with assault, and later released with conditions and a future court date.

Strathroy man allegedly caught with woman he was supposed to stay away from

A 47-year-old Strathroy man is in more trouble with the law after he was allegedly driving with a suspended licence with passenger he had been ordered to stay away from.

Chatham-Kent police said they found the man in the driver's seat of a vehicle they pulled over just after 4:30 a.m. Wednesday on Grand Avenue East in Chatham.

Officers said that's also when they learned that the man was suspended from driving and was bound by conditions of three different undertakings not to communicate with a female who was also in the vehicle with him at the time.

He was arrested, charged accordingly, and taken to police headquarters pending a bail hearing.

A 48-year-old Strathroy woman was also arrested. She was charged with three counts of facilitating a breach of conditions and she was taken back to police headquarters before she was later released with a future court date.
