A delicious fundraiser for Community Living Chatham-Kent is back.
Orders are currently being accepted for the box lunch on Thursday, May 11.
"For only $10, you can order a 6-inch turkey or veggie sub, and it comes it chips, cookie, and water," said Lisa McAllister, Volunteer and Events Coordinator for Community Living Chatham-Kent. "If your place of business places more than two lunches, we will deliver it right to your door. We've delivered in past years to Dresden, Wallaceburg, Ridgetown, Merlin, Blenheim. So when we say Chatham-Kent, we mean Chatham-Kent."
McAllister added that all the money raised goes to Community Living Chatham-Kent.
"All the proceeds from the box lunch stay in Chatham-Kent to enrich the lives of people who have diverse abilities by providing quality services, and meaningful, inclusive opportunities," she said.
But the deadline to place a box lunch order is coming up quickly.
"We'd like all orders placed by Tuesday, May 2nd," said McAllister. "As you can imagine, because we're talking about Chatham-Kent, it takes quite awhile to get everything organized, so we want to make sure on May 11th that we get your lunch right and get it straight to your door."
McAllister said they also brought back the box lunch for kids program.
"For $5.50 you can sponsor a lunch to a student in Chatham-Kent, who may not normally get a lunch like that," she said. "We have a representative from the school board who goes out to find out through their nutrition program, those kids that are in need. Then depending on the amount of sponsorships we get, we give out those lunches, and last year we were just shy of 500."
Those lunches are then delivered the next day, on Friday, May 12.
