Off-duty officer nabs impaired driver in Chatham-Kent  

A 25-year-old man is charged with impaired driving after being pulled over by an off-duty Chatham-Kent police officer Friday afternoon.

Police said the driver was arrested and taken to police headquarters for further tests.

The man was charged with operation while impaired. He was released from custody with a future court date.

Chatham-Kent police arrest two people for public intoxication

Two people spent some time sobering up in police custody after being found intoxicated in public.

Chatham-Kent police received a report about a woman walking and stumbling around the Woods Street area in Chatham Friday night around 7:48 p.m.

A 56-year-old Chatham woman was located in an intoxicated state and unable to care of herself.

She was transported to police headquarters and lodged until sober.

The woman was issued a provincial offence notice for being intoxicated in a public place.

Earlier that day, police responded to a disturbance call on Margaret Avenue in Wallaceburg.

A 32-year-old Wallaceburg woman was located in an intoxicated state and taken to police headquarters.

She was lodged until sober and later released with a provincial offence notice for being intoxicated in a public place.
