It's official! A new trampoline park is opening in Chatham this fall.
It was announced Monday morning during a special event at Flying Squirrel Sport's new location inside the former YA Canada building at 730 Richmond Street.
The park is expected to open in September and will hire between 35 to 40 employees of all ages and experience levels.
The 42,000-square-foot Chatham site will be the largest Flying Squirrel facility in Ontario and the third largest in Canada.
"I am excited to announce that the Tatro Group of Companies have partnered with Cody & Luke Schueler and their team from the Flying Squirrel to bring a 42,000 square foot exciting, innovative & inclusive facility to Chatham-Kent," said Don Tetrault, the Tatro Group of Companies owner. "I am excited to see the joy this facility will bring to children, teenagers, and adults of our community."
According to Mayor Darrin Canniff, Flying Squirrel has also partnered with the Chatham-Kent Children's Treatment Centre to create a sensory room for children.
"This will be the first of its kind for Flying Squirrel," said Canniff. "A sensory room is designed for parents to take a child into who may be anxious. It's very calming."
In addition to freestyle trampolines, the Chatham location will feature other attractions such as a rock climbing wall, foam pits, dunking hoops, zip lines, a kiddie area, an arcade, a restaurant, and more.
The sports park also boasts itself to be an exciting attraction for those of all ages and hosts birthday parties and large group buyouts of up to 300 people.
"This is going to be a state-of-the-art facility," said Canniff. "The equipment being brought in is located nowhere else in Canada. It's a huge operation and will attract people from all over."
