Chatham-Kent looking to highlight local gardeners

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent is looking to shine the spotlight on local gardening enthusiasts.

The 'Growing Together' initiative is part of the ongoing Celebrating CK in May aimed at highlighting residents who make the community a lot more colourful through their gardens.

Residents have the opportunity to nominate a garden in their neighbourhood and the owner could win a gift card from Glasshouse Nursery, as well as a yard sign announcing their distinction.

To nominate someone, residents can send a photo of the garden and its address through the Let’s Talk Chatham-Kent website.

"We can't wait to see all the beautiful gardens in our community and to recognize those who put in the effort to make their space a true oasis," said Mayor Darrin Canniff in a post on social media. "Let’s make Chatham-Kent bloom with beauty this summer."

Another feature on the Let's Talk Website is the Chatham-Kent In Bloom garden finder, which allows residents to place a pin on a map to show the location.

The online map can also be used to find greenspaces in the neighbourhood for activities like walking or biking.
