A special military parade will close some roads in downtown Chatham on Sunday afternoon.
The Municipality of Chatham-Kent said the "Freedom of the City" parade route from Christ Church at 80 Wellington Street West to the Chatham Armoury at 44 William Street North will shutdown King Street West between Second Street and Third Street.
Engineer Nolan Van Hyfte said all lanes will be closed on Sunday between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. for the parade procession under police escort. The parade is from 1:30 until 3 p.m.
He said emergency vehicles will have access at all times.
The Essex and Kent Scottish Regiment will be celebrating their new regimental flag to be presented by the Regiment’s Colonel-in-Chief, His Royal Highness Prince Michael of Kent.
Prince Michael will be attending the special church service at Christ Church in Chatham on Sunday to retire the old flag before the parade.
