A Windsor man charged in a fatal crash during Retrofest in Chatham a year ago is going to trial.
A trial date hasn't been set yet, but the case of 27-year-old Brett Iler was up at Chatham-Kent's Provincial Offences Court in Blenheim on Wednesday to make further plans.
The case will return to court on June 12, 2023 for a Judicial Pre-Trial and to set a date for his next court date.
Iler was charged with two counts of careless driving causing death and three counts of careless driving causing bodily harm after a four-vehicle crash just outside of Chatham that killed two people and injured three others.
Chatham-Kent police previously reported that officers were called to the scene on Queen’s Line at Dillon Road on May 27, 2022.
Investigators said the man was driving east on Queen’s Line when his vehicle crashed with a pickup truck travelling westbound. The man’s vehicle then hit an older-model Buick that had five people inside. Two of the occupants in the Buick died at the scene.
