CK hosts Dufferin Avenue forum in Wallaceburg

The public is being invited to an information meeting in Wallaceburg to discuss the $8.7 million reconstruction of Dufferin Avenue.

The meeting will be held at the Wallaceburg Service Centre at 786 Dufferin Avenue on Thursday, May 25 between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. The Municipality of Chatham-Kent is planning a short presentation and will have drawings available for viewing at the forum.

The project involves the rehabilitation of Dufferin Avenue from the McNaughton Avenue intersection to the western limits of Wallaceburg just west of Walnut Drive.

Construction is planned to begin this month and road work is expected to be complete by November 2023 with restoration works scheduled to take place in the Spring or Summer of 2024.

The work includes new sidewalks, new traffic lights, new storm sewers, new watermains, new curbs, new driveway approaches within municipal boulevards, and new manholes and catch basins.

The meeting is also available at Let's Talk Chatham-Kent.

"Area residents, property owners, business operators and those who may have a general interest in this project are encouraged to attend the Public Information Session and visit the forum to review the materials posted," said the municipality.

The province committed $3 million for the overhaul.
