Woman walks out away with full cart of groceries

A 29-year-old Wallaceburg woman is walking away with a pair of charges after an alleged shoplifting incident in Wallaceburg.

Chatham-Kent police said the woman was charged with theft and possession of stolen property after she allegedly walked out of the Walmart on McNaughton Avenue on Wednesday with a full cart of groceries without paying for the items.

She was later released from custody with a future court date.

Chatham man arrested for public intoxication

An 18-year-old Chatham man is facing a public intoxication charge after police picked him up while they were responding to a disturbance call on King Street in Chatham.

Police said they got that call at around 10 p.m. Wednesday and found the man to be intoxicated to the point where he couldn't care for himself.

He was arrested, charged, and taken back to police headquarters where he was set to be held until he sobered up.

Police investigate break-in at Wendy's in Chatham

Chatham-Kent police are investigating a break-in that took place Thursday morning at the Wendy's Restaurant on McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg.

No further details have been released at this time, but police are asking anyone with information to contact Constable Sommer Phenix at sommer.phenix@chatham-kent.ca.
