Knife-wielding man charged with assault
A 41-year-old man is facing a pair of charges after he allegedly approached someone in Chatham while carrying a knife.
Chatham-Kent police said they were called to Grand Avenue East in Chatham shortly after noon on Thursday and learned that the victim had been walking near the east end of Stanley Street when the 41-year-old man allegedly approached him.
The accused was allegedly holding a knife in a "threatening manner" before a verbal argument turned physical, resulting in the victim being injured.
Police said by the time they arrived, the suspect was still in the area.
A 41-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with dangerous weapons and assault causing bodily harm.
He was taken to police headquarters and was later released with conditions and a future court date.

Man allegedly threatens stranger at gas station
A 51-year-old Chatham man has a date with a judge after he allegedly walked up to a stranger at a gas station and threatened to harm them.
Police said that was on Grand Avenue West in Chatham at around 10 p.m. Thursday.
Officers said they were called to the scene and learned that the victim had allegedly been "aggressively approached" by a man who pulled up in a vehicle and then got out to confront the victim.
Police said the victim did not know the man, who is also accused of uttering threats.
The accused was arrested, charged, and later released with conditions and a future court date.

Late night traffic hotline tips off police to impaired driving charge
A 58-year-old Chatham woman is facing an impaired driving charge after someone called in a late-night traffic complaint on Kent Bridge Road in Chatham Township.
Police said the tip about a vehicle "driving erratically" came in just after 11 p.m. Thursday.
Officers were able to find a vehicle that matched the description they were given and stopped the driver.
Police believed the woman behind the wheel was under the influence of alcohol, so she was arrested and taken back to police headquarters for some sobriety tests.
She was later charged with impaired driving before she was released with a future court date.
The woman's driver's license was seized and suspended and the vehicle was impounded.
