Officers recover stolen vehicle in Chatham

A vehicle reported stolen from the Essex area turned up at the Walmart in Chatham on Friday.

Police were called to the store with reports of a theft, and said the suspects were found in the parking lot inside the stolen vehicle.

A man and a woman were arrested and taken into police custody.

They were each charged with possession of more than $5,000 in stolen property.

Traffic complaint leads to an arrest

A 56-year-old Tilbury man is now facing an impaired driving charge after police received a tip about an erratic driver from a concerned citizen.

Police said the call came in at 3 a.m. on Saturday after someone saw the vehicle being driven erratically.

Officers located the vehicle parked on Second Street with the driver still in the driver's seat.

Police believed the male driver was impaired by alcohol and arrested him. He was taken to police headquarters for breath rests, where he reportedly registered almost two-times the legal limit.

The man was charged and later released from police custody.

Thamesville man arrested on outstand warrants

A 42-year-old Thamesville man has been arrested after allegedly trespassing on a home lawn at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Police were called to a Blenheim residence with reports of an unwanted person. Officers arrived and found a man on the property.

Through investigation, it was determined that the suspect was wanted for multiple crimes committed through 2022.

He was arrested and held in custody pending a bail hearing.
