Two Blenheim men arrested in neighbour dispute

Chatham-Kent police arrested a set of neighbours accused of assaulting one another during a squabble.

At around 6 a.m. Friday, police responded to a reported disturbance on St. George Street in Blenheim. When police arrived, they learned that an altercation had occurred between two neighbours.

Officers said one of the men allegedly approached the other with a baseball bat, injuring him. The man with the bat also sustained minor injuries when he was assaulted by his neighbour.

A 50-year-old man is charged with aggravated assault, while a 59-year-old man faces charges of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and assault with a weapon.

Both men were released with a future court date.

R.I.D.E. program screens 300 vehicles across CK on Friday

Police laid several charges while conducting roadside screening programs across Chatham-Kent on Friday.

CKPS officers reportedly checked upwards of 300 vehicles throughout the municipality during a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) program, resulting in one traffic violation charge, and two drug charges.

Police officials say they will continue conduct screenings throughout the Canada Day long weekend, and are reminding everyone to drive safe.
