Adult man accused of threatening his mom during an argument

A 41-year-old Chatham man who is definitely old enough to know better is facing a handful of charges after a violent outburst during an argument with his mother.

Chatham-Kent police said they were called to the home on McGuigan Avenue in Chatham for a family dispute just before 8:30 a.m. Sunday and learned that the man had been arguing with his mom when he allegedly damaged her cell phone and made a comment about hurting her.

When police showed up, they arrested the man and charged him with one count of mischief and two counts of uttering threats.

He was taken to police headquarters and was later released with conditions and a future court date.

Man accused of hitting vehicles after being kicked out of a Chatham business

A 36-year-old Chatham-Kent man is facing a pair of mischief charges after he allegedly damaged some vehicles in a parking lot at a business in Chatham.

Police said the vehicles were damaged after the man was asked to leave a store that he had already been trespassed from previously.

Officers said they were called in shortly before 1:30 p.m. Sunday and arrested the man.

He was charged with two counts of mischief and was later taken to police headquarters where he was set to be held pending a bail hearing.

Driver takes away keys from woman who hit his vehicle

A 54-year-old Dresden woman is facing an impaired driving charge after she allegedly hit someone's vehicle while she was pulling out of a business Sunday afternoon.

Police said they got involved after someone called to report an impaired driver at around 4:45 p.m. Sunday.

Officers said their investigation showed that the woman had hit a vehicle with her vehicle while she was pulling out of an establishment on North Street in Dresden.

Police said the owner of the second vehicle then reportedly followed the woman into the parking lot of a nearby business and was able to get the woman's keys from her before calling police.

Officers arrived at the scene and believed the woman was under the influence of alcohol, so she was arrested and taken to police headquarters for a breath test.

Her vehicle was also towed from the scene.

The woman was later charged with operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit and was released from custody with conditions and a future court date.

Man recorded making threats

A 33-year-old Wallaceburg man is charged with uttering threats after he was allegedly recorded making threats against another man while speaking with his ex-girlfriend.

Police said they were called in for that at 8:15 p.m. Sunday.

Officers tracked down the man accused of making the threats and arrested him.

He was charged and taken to police headquarters, then later released with conditions and a future court date.
