Police investigating copper wire theft

Chatham-Kent police are looking for tips from the public after someone broke into a business on Grand Avenue in Chatham and stole about $500 worth of copper wire.

Police said they were called to the business on Monday, adding that whoever broke in cut a hole in a fence.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Constable Levi Tetrault at levit@chatham-kent.ca.

Anonymous callers can also call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) and may be eligible for a cash reward.

Pickup truck reported stolen

Police are appealing to the public for tips after a grey 1999 GMC truck was reported stolen.

Officers said it was taken from Lindsay Road and it's believed the truck, which was unplated at the time, was stolen sometime overnight between Sunday and Monday.

Impaired driver stopped at the drive-thru

A 32-year-old Chatham woman will have to hitch a ride with someone else for the next couple of days after she was called in for driving while impaired.

CK police said they gave the woman a breath test after getting a call about an impaired driver in the drive-thru of a restaurant on St. Clair Street in Chatham at around 10:30 p.m. Monday.

Police said the woman was issued a three-day licence suspension.

CK police issue fraud warning reminder

Chatham-Kent police are reminding the public to be wary of suspicious phone calls from people who are claiming to be from the Canada Revenue Agency, legal, or financial institutions.

Police said they are still getting reports of those types of phone calls.

Officers said scammers may use threatening language and an aggressive tone to scare you into making payments.

Police are also reminding you never to give out your personal information over the phone, especially if you did not initiate the call.
