A pair from Windsor, and a Ridgetown man were arrested during a traffic stop in Stratford, after police allegedly found a large amount of illegal drugs inside the vehicle.
Stratford police say they were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program on Huron Street at York Street at around 9:45 p.m. Thursday when a white Chevrolet Equinox with three occupants was stopped.
Police determined the driver had a suspended licence and he was placed under arrest. A prohibited knife, along with suspected methamphetamine and fentanyl was reportedly found on the accused during a pat-down search, police said.
Officers placed the other two individuals under arrest and taken to police headquarters while a detailed search inside the vehicle was completed. Following the probe, police turned up 518 grams of methamphetamine, 435 grams of fentanyl, six grams of cocaine, 24 hydromorphone pills, 33 grams of cannabis, and more than $8,000 in cash.
“The estimated street value of all items seized is over $180,000,” read a release from Stratford police. “Further to the drugs located, police also found a second prohibited knife and bear spray.”
As a result, a 40-year-old woman and a 44-year-old man, both of Windsor, and a 41-year-old man from Ridgetown have been charged with various drugs and weapons-related offences.
The three were held for a bail hearing and were then remanded back into custody.
