Chatham-Kent police are reminding drivers of the dangers of excessive speeding after officers recorded a vehicle going 175 kilometres per hour in a posted 80 km/h zone.
Police said officers on general patrol spotted the vehicle speeding down Merlin Road in Raleigh Township just before 12:30 a.m. Monday and later confirmed that it was going more than double the posted speed limit.
The officers then pulled the vehicle over and charged the driver with stunt driving.
Police said the 30-year-old Tilbury East woman was given a summons for a future court date and the vehicle was towed to an impound lot.
Officers are also taking the opportunity to remind you that speeding on the road poses a significant risk to yourself and others, increasing the likelihood of accidents and the severity of injuries if there is a collision.
