Chatham youth accused of assaulting family members during heated argument

A 15-year-old youth is charged with assault after an argument between family members took a violent turn.

Police said the charges stem from an incident in June on Chestnut Drive in Chatham when a verbal argument between the youth and their father escalated to the youth striking their father.

The mother and sibling were also allegedly assaulted after trying to intervene.

The sibling sustained physical injuries, according to police.

Police located the youth on Thursday at around 11:30 a.m. and arrested them.

The 15-year-old Chatham youth was charged with assault with a weapon and three counts of assault.

He was released with a future court date.

Woman arrested in connection with robbery investigation

A 40-year-old Harwich Township woman is facing charges after a victim was assaulted in his home and an electronic device was taken.

Chatham-Kent police said the disturbance happened on Sunday at a Delaware Avenue address in Chatham.

Police said officers were able to identify three suspects through video surveillance.

A 38-year-old Blenheim man, a 40-year-old Chatham man, and a 21-year-old Chatham man all turned themselves into police Tuesday and Wednesday.

The woman turned herself in to the police on Thursday. She is also charged with robbery, assault with a weapon, and assault causing bodily harm

 Thursday's storm update

Chatham-Kent police were kept busy Thursday night addressing several concerns after strong winds and heavy rain whipped through the region.

Police responded to 11 alarm-related incidents, conducted 22 property checks, addressed 20 incidents involving traffic hazards, and managed 39 incidents of downed wires.

Officers responded to one single collision where a falling tree had stuck a vehicle.
