Police investigating break and enter in Chatham

Chatham-Kent police are investigating a break and enter at a business in Chatham.

Police say at around 2:53 a.m. on Saturday, an unknown suspect used an axe to smash their way through the front door of a business on Richmond Street near Inshes Avenue.

The suspect fled the area once the alarm began to sound.

Windsor man charged with impaired driving following single-vehicle crash

A 47-year-old Windsor man is facing an impaired driving charge after a single-vehicle crash in Chatham.

Police said they were called to the area of Grand Avenue in Chatham after reports of a driver striking a light pole with their vehicle and then fleeing the scene.

Officers located the vehicle and the driver who was showing signs of impairment.

 He was transported to police headquarters where he provided breath samples which resulted in him being charged with being over the legal limit.

He was charged and released with a future court date.
