Firefighters tackled a fire at a multi-unit house in Chatham Friday afternoon.
Chatham-Kent firefighters were called around 1:45 p.m. to the structure on Jeffery Street near Harvey Street on a report of smoke. When fire crews arrived, flames and smoke were visible from the upper unit.
Firefighters entered the home and found the fire in the upper unit's kitchen, quickly putting it out. Two fire companies responded to the scene.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire was deemed accidental, and the damage estimate was $50,000.
