Two people banned from communicating with each other arrested during a traffic stop

Two Chatham-Kent residents in their late 30s who had been ordered to stay away from each other are facing several charges after they were pulled over by police Monday morning.

Chatham-Kent police said the woman had been released from custody in February 2021 with conditions that included not associating with a specific man and not possessing any drug-related equipment.

The man had been released from court last month -- on October 24 -- with a condition that included not associating with the woman.

Police said despite those conditions, officers saw the woman and the man in a vehicle together at around 7:30 a.m. Monday.

Officers pulled the vehicle over and arrested both of the accused.

Police also allegedly found some suspected Oxycontin and some drug-related equipment on the woman when they searched her.

A 39-year-old Chatham-Kent woman was charged with two counts of failing to comply with a release order and one count each of driving under suspension and drug possession.

A 38-year-old Chatham man was charged with failing to comply with a release order.

Both of the accused were taken to police headquarters and were set to be held there pending a bail hearing.

Blenheim residents wake up to find neighbour in their home

Some Blenheim residents had a bit of a rude awakening Monday morning.

Chatham-Kent police said they were called to a residence on Talbot Street East in Blenheim shortly before 9 a.m. Monday after some individuals in the home had woken up to find their neighbour was there with them.

Police said the man left after his neighbours found him and officers were able to track him down and arrest him.

He was charged with being in a home without permission and was taken to police headquarters before he was later released with conditions and a future court date.

Chatham woman arrested for breaching house arrest

A 36-year-old Chatham woman is in more trouble with police after she was allegedly caught violating her release conditions.

CK police said the woman was released by the court on September 18 with conditions that required her to stay inside her residence with specific exceptions.

Police said they arrested her after they followed up on a tip on Monday that the woman was not complying with that condition.

Officers said they found the woman at around 3:30 p.m. Monday on Riverview Drive and took her back to police headquarters.

She was charged with failing to comply with a release order and was set to be held pending a bail hearing.
