Chatham man arrested for blocking residential street

A 30-year-old man has been charged with mischief after he allegedly laid down some wooden boards with nails in them across a residential street in Chatham.

Chatham-Kent police said they were notified of the situation just after 9 a.m. Thursday and that the man had laid the boards across the road on Partridge Crescent in Chatham on Wednesday.

Officers said the man also laid a large railway tie across the roadway.

Police were able to identify a suspect and arrested him in connection with the case.

He was charged with mischief and was later released with a future court date.

Police catch up with two wanted men

Chatham-Kent police were able to cross two more names off of their wanted list after a pair of arrests on Thursday.

Police said in the first case, an officer on patrol saw a man walking on Prince Street North in Chatham who was wanted on an outstanding warrant.

The 31-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with two counts of assault with a weapon in connection with an investigation from October 29.

He was taken to police headquarters and was set to be held there pending a bail hearing.

In the second case, officers arrested a man who was wanted for failing to attend court in connection with an investigation going back to 2020.

Police said they found him on Arnold Road in Chatham Township shortly before 11:30 p.m. Thursday while they were following up on a tip about some suspicious activity.

The 33-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and released with a future court date.

Two Windsor men charged after alleged theft at Tilbury business

Two Windsor men in their 40s are facing charges after they were allegedly seen removing items from a business' loading dock in Tilbury overnight.

CK police said the owner of the business on Queen Street North called them at around 3:30 a.m. to report some suspicious activity.

When officers showed up, one of the men allegedly tried to take off running.

Police said he was arrested after a brief foot chase and a second man was arrested nearby.

A 41-year-old Windsor man and a 49-year-old Windsor man were both charged with theft, possession of stolen property, and possession of break-and-enter tools.

They were both set to be held in custody pending a bail hearing.
