Impaired driver stopped in Chatham
A tip about a possible impaired driver led to a local man -- and his vehicle -- being pulled off the road.
Chatham-Kent police said they got that tip at around 7 p.m. Wednesday on St. Clair Street in Chatham.
Officers were able to catch up with the vehicle in the area of School Street and Centre Street and pulled it over.
Police believed the driver was under the influence of alcohol, so he was arrested and taken to police headquarters pending a bail hearing.
A 42-year-old Chatham man was charged with having a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit and he was later released with conditions and a future court date.
The vehicle was towed from the scene.

Two suspicious people arrested for breaching bail conditions
Chatham-Kent police got a two-for-one deal when they got a call about some suspicious activity in the area of Richmond Street and Bloomfield Road in Chatham overnight.
Police said they were called to that area at around 12:50 a.m. Friday and when they arrived, they learned that one of the two men there had been released from custody in July last year with a curfew that required him to be in his residence between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. daily.
As a result, the 44-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with failing to comply with a judicial release. He was then taken to police headquarters and was set to be held there pending a bail hearing.
Police said they also learned that a second man who was found in the same area at the same time was also out on a condition that required him to be inside his residence between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m.
That was imposed on him in October 2022.
Officers said the second man had also been in court in June of this year after he allegedly breached that condition.
The 38-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with failing to comply with a probation order and failing to comply with his release conditions. He was also taken to police headquarters and was set to be held there pending a bail hearing.
