Man accused of assaulting two LCBO employees
A 26-year-old Chatham-Kent man is facing a list of charges after he allegedly tried to steal some items from an LCBO in Chatham.
Police said they were told the man had walked into the store "dressed to disguise his identity" over the noon hour on Monday and then took some items off of the shelf and tried to leave without paying for them.
Officers said two loss prevention staff members tried to stop the man when he tried to leave and the man then allegedly assaulted both of them before he was arrested.
Police said the man had also been ordered twice in the past six months to stay away from that specific store.
The accused was charged with two counts of assaulting a peace officer, two counts of resisting arrest, and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order along with one count each of theft, possession of stolen property, and wearing a disguise with intent to commit a crime.
He was taken to police headquarters and was set to be held there pending a bail hearing.
