Festive R.I.D.E. Programs out in force

Chatham-Kent police are doing their best to keep local roads safe during the holiday season.

On Saturday night, police conducted multiple R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) programs throughout the municipality.

Police checked 487 vehicles, conducted three Roadside Screening Tests, and issued five warnings during this time.

Police are reminding the public to enjoy the holidays responsibly and to ensure that everyone who goes out has a safe ride home.

Mischievous man arrested

Police arrested a man for breaching a court-ordered curfew following the call of a suspicious person.

Officers were called to the area of McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg on Saturday night for the report of a suspicious man possibly causing mischief.

When police located the suspect they determined that he had a court-ordered curfew.

A 34-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and held in custody pending a bail hearing.
