Thousands of people will flock to Bothwell this weekend for the annual Opti-Fest car show.
"It's a busy day, probably close to 2,000 vehicles if everything goes good," said Lisa Downie with the Bothwell Optimist Club. "Lots of activities and the main draw of the day is the 50/50 draw."
In 2022, the winner of the Firemens 50/50 draw took home $47,552. However, to win, you must be present when the draw takes place at 4 p.m.
Larry Wolfe with the Bothwell Optimist said for the car show, vehicles just need to be over 20 years old, and there is no pre-registration.
"The gates open between 7 and 8 a.m. and they start lining them in. By 10 o'clock most of them are in there. It's surprising that they'll come to two different shows, they'll do our show for a few hours, then they'll take off and go to another show."
There is also an automotive flea market on Friday and Saturday, featuring just only classic car parts. Plus there is a car parade on Friday at 7 p.m. from the arena to the park.
Larry added that they have a number of things going on at Victoria Park.
"There's a beverage tent that's open on Friday night with a dance. And then all day Saturday and a dance on Saturday night. In the park area also we have an area for kids, bouncy castles."
Admission is $5 on Friday and $10 on Saturday. All of the money raised goes right back into the community.
