Increased police presence in Wallaceburg
Residents of Wallaceburg may notice a heavy police presence on Murray Street on Tuesday.
Chatham-Kent police assured that there is no threat to public safety.
The OPP and local police have partnered to execute a warrant in the area as part of an ongoing investigation.

Police arrest several people for failing to attend court
On Monday afternoon, officers on general patrol observed suspicious activity on Colborne Street and began to investigate. They attempted to speak to a man in the area, but he fled on a bicycle when approached.
After a short foot chase, the man was arrested. Officers also confirmed that the man was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court.
During a search of the suspect, police found financial cards not issued in his name. Police determined that the man was under court orders prohibiting him from possessing any cards with a data strip or security strip, credit card, or any banking document unless issued in his name.
A 34-year-old man was charged with failing to attend court and breaching a release order.

Chatham-Kent police were called to Carolinian Place at 8:28 a.m. Monday to investigate suspicious activity.
According to police, the suspicious individuals, a man and a woman, were last seen walking on McNaughton Avenue in Chatham.
When officers located the duo it was discovered that the woman was wanted on several warrants. She was arrested and transported to police headquarters.
A 33-year-old Chatham woman faces the following charges:
possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
theft
fraud
possession of stolen property
possession of a controlled substance
two counts of unauthorized use of credit card data
two counts of failing to comply with a probation order
two counts of failing to attend court after having appeared
She was held pending a bail hearing.

CK police arrested a 32-year-old woman Monday on an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court.
She was located by officers at 7:34 p.m. at a King Street East address in Chatham.
The woman faces charges of theft, possession of stolen property, and two counts of failing to attend court.

Police were checking on the well-being of a woman when they found she was wanted for failing to attend court.
Just before 7:30 a.m. Monday, police were called to a business on Grand Avenue West in Chatham to check on a woman believed to be intoxicated.
It was discovered that the woman had failed to show up for court in relation to probation violation investigations.
The 43-year-old woman was arrested and taken to police headquarters, where she was held for a bail hearing.

Wallaceburg man charged with fraud
Chatham-Kent police have concluded a fraud investigation transferred to them by Toronto police.
During the investigation, officers learned the victim believed she was securing a loan through an online banking company by paying insurance. She reportedly transferred a significant amount of money to a bank account in Wallaceburg.
The bank account owner was identified, and a warrant was issued for his arrest when he couldn't be found.
At 10:23 a.m. on Monday, the suspect turned himself in to the police.
A 61-year-old Wallaceburg man has been charged with fraud.

Suspicious activity leads to arrest
Police responded to a King Street address at 2:29 p.m. on Monday to investigate suspicious activity.
When officers arrived they located the suspect, who was wanted on an outstanding warrant for a 2023 theft investigation. It was also determined that the man wasn't abiding by the address condition on his release order.
A 38-year-old Chatham man was charged with theft, possession of stolen property, and failing to comply with a release order.
He's been released with conditions and a future court date of February 19.

Multiple men arrested for making threats
On Monday afternoon, Chatham-Kent police responded to Park Street for a threat investigation.
When police arrived, at around 12:18 p.m., they found that a man and another individual had been in a verbal argument that escalated. The man then reportedly raised his fist and threatened to harm the victim.
A 25-year-old Chatham man was charged with uttering threats and assault.

Police responded to an apartment building on Fifth Street for reports of a disturbance.
At 7:53 p.m. on Monday, officers determined that the suspect entered the building and threatened to harm the superintendent.
A 35-year-old man was then arrested and taken to police headquarters. He was charged with uttering threats and released with a future court date.

Wallaceburg man charged with breaching bail conditions
A 38-year-old Wallaceburg man has been charged with failing to comply with a court order.
In September 2023, the man was released by the court with orders prohibiting him from communicating with a specific individual.
At 1:42 p.m. Monday, officers responded to Turquoise Court in Chatham after learning the suspect had breached that condition, as the individual had received an email from him.
The suspect has been held in police custody pending a bail hearing.
