Neighbour accused of using victim's debit card during hospital stay
Chatham-Kent police have made an arrest after someone stole a Chatham woman's debit card while she was in the hospital.
Police said the arrest stems from a fraud investigation on Taylor Avenue in Chatham that started on December 22.
Officers said they learned that while the victim was in the hospital, someone made some unauthorized purchases and withdrawals using her debit card. Several items were also reported missing from the woman's apartment.
Police said their investigation led them to arrest the woman's neighbour on Wednesday, who is now charged with theft and possession of stolen property.
The accused was taken to police headquarters before she was later released with conditions and a future court date.

Wanted man turns himself in
A 28-year-old Chatham man who has been wanted by police for almost two years has finally turned himself in.
Chatham-Kent police said they showed up at the man's residence on Faubert Drive in Chatham on February 17, 2022 to give him some court documents for an OPP matter, but he wasn't home.
Police said they also learned that the man had previously been released by the Peel Regional Police Service with conditions that required him to stay home with limited exceptions. He had also been ordered to present himself at the door when police asked him to.
When CK police couldn't find him, they issued a warrant for his arrest.
Officers finally caught up with him when he turned himself in at CK police headquarters at 4:40 p.m. on Tuesday.
Police said the man is currently charged with failing to comply with a probation order and failing to comply with a release order.
He was later released with conditions and a future court date.

Chatham man arrested for two assaults at local motel
A 60-year-old Chatham man is facing charges after he allegedly assaulted two people during an argument at a motel on Grand Avenue East.
Police said they were called to the scene shortly before 10 p.m. Wednesday and learned that the man had assaulted another man while they were arguing.
The victim reported a "minor physical injury."
The man also allegedly assaulted a woman who was present at the time of the argument.
The accused was arrested and charged with two counts of assault along with one count each of uttering threats and assault causing bodily harm.

Dover Township man accused of assaulting woman during an argument
A 24-year-old man from Dover Township is charged with assault after an argument Wednesday night took a violent turn.
CK police said they were called to an address in Dover Township shortly after 10 p.m. Wednesday and learned that a man had hit a woman while they were arguing.
As a result, the man was arrested and charged. He was taken back to police headquarters and was later released with conditions and a future court date.
