Two men face charges after an investigation into a pickup truck and a stolen trailer ended up leading police to some illegal drugs.
Essex County OPP started their investigation after receiving a report that a trailer and its contents had been stolen from Colchester Harbour between January 21 and January 22.
On January 24, police in Leamington received a report that a pickup truck had also been stolen from a business near Wheatley Harbour.
The following day, officers located and arrested the two individuals in Colchester South.
Police seized a pickup truck, a trailer and its contents, along with a quantity of suspected methamphetamine and oxycodone.
The total value of the recovered property is estimated at over $26,000, according to police.
A 51-year-old man from Wheatley was charged with possession of stolen property and possession of a scheduled 1 substance. This individual remains in custody and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice for a bail hearing on January 26.
The 35-year-old man from Harrow was charged with possession of a break-in instrument and scheduled 1 substance. This individual has been released from custody and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor.
Police continue to investigate.
