CKFR hires new Assistant Chief

Dan Parent will be Chatham-Kent Fire and Rescue's (CKFR) newest Assistant Fire Chief.

His hiring comes following the retirement of Assistant Chief John Praill. According to CKFR, he was selected from applicants from across North America.

"We are looking forward to having Dan join our senior management team," Fire Chief Chris Case said. "He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience serving our community in a multifaceted manner for many years."

Parent has over three decades of experience working with EMS and fire.

In 1991, Parent became a paramedic with Chatham and District Ambulance Service, responding out of Wallaceburg. In 1993, he was hired as a volunteer with the Wallaceburg Fire Department.

Parent became a career firefighter in 1995 with the Wallaceburg Fire Department, which later became CKFR. Since then, he moved steadily through the ranks, becoming a Captain in January 2020 and Senior Captain in September 2020.

"It is inspiring to see individuals within our organization progressively advancing and assuming leadership roles," Chief Case said.
