Children's treatment centres in Southwestern Ontario will see a $4.5 million boost to budgets this year.
The Ontario government announced an additional $2.6 million of funding to support the pediatric emergency diversion clinic at Windsor Regional Hospital.
The John McGivney Children's Centre in Windsor is getting $480,000 to improve rehabilitation services and Connections Early Years Family Centre will get $66,000 to improve wait time for its speech-language pathology clinic.
The Children's Treatment Centre of Chatham-Kent is getting an additional $519,000 for children's rehabilitation services, physiotherapy and occupational therapy
Finally, Pathways Health Centre for Children in Sarnia is getting an additional $964,000 to support its children's programs.
"It means so much, it means we're able to continue with the great services, that we continue to provide early intervention. We're also looking to change the way we approach some of our services so that there will be tiered services, allowing resources on our website," said Jennifer Jovanovski.
The increase represents an annual funding commitment to improve access to pediatric care and help clear backlogs.
“Our government is ensuring children and youth in every corner of the province have quick and convenient access to high-quality and convenient care, closer to home,” said Robin Martin, Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Health. “This investment in Southwestern Ontario will make it easier and faster for young people and their families in the region to connect to the care they need for years to come.”
