Stolen vehicle investigation leads police to two alleged drug dealers in Chatham

Two Chatham-Kent residents in their 30s are each facing more than a dozen weapons and drug-related charges in connection with a stolen vehicle investigation.

Chatham-Kent police said they made the arrests on Tuesday on Vanier Drive in Chatham.

During their search, officers reported finding two firearms and a taser along with some suspected MDMA (ecstasy), fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine, oxycodone, hydromorphone, and clonazepam.

As a result of the investigation, 35-year-old Jesse Beemer was charged with:

- Seven counts of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking

- Two counts each of careless storage of a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, unauthorized possession of a prohibited firearm, and possession of a prohibited firearm in a motor vehicle

- One count each of possession of stolen property, carrying a concealed weapon, unauthorized possession of a weapon, possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition, and failing to comply with a probation order

Police also arrested 30-year-old Megan Peters and charged her with:

- Seven counts of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking

- Two counts each of careless storage of a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, unauthorized possession of a prohibited firearm, and possession of a prohibited firearm in a motor vehicle, failing to comply with an undertaking

- One count each of possession of stolen property, carrying a concealed weapon, unauthorized possession of a weapon, and possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition

Both of the accused appeared for a bail hearing on Wednesday and they are both set to be held in custody for now with future court dates.
