Man turns himself in to police following disturbance in Chatham over the weekend

A 37-year-old Chatham man is facing an assault charge after a disturbance on Gray Street in Chatham on Saturday.

Police said the man allegedly assaulted a woman. He left the scene before police arrived.

The man turned himself in to the police on Sunday morning. He was arrested and charged with assault causing bodily harm.

Chatham woman charged with assault after verbal argument takes a violent turn

A 31-year-old Chatham woman has been charged with assault after an argument turned into a physical fight.

Police said their investigation began at 3:22 p.m. on Sunday.

Officers learned the woman and another person got into a verbal argument which escalated into a physical altercation. The victim was struck by the woman resulting in minor physical injuries.

At 5:44 a.m. on Monday, the woman turned herself in to the police.

The 31-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and charged with assault. She was released with conditions and a future court date.

Ridgetown woman arrested after allegedly smashing window with a hammer

A 40-year-old Ridgetown woman is facing a pair of charges after allegedly smashing the front window of a home in Ridgetown.

Police said they were called to a residence on George Street at around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday for a mischief investigation.

Officers learned the woman broke the front window of a home with a hammer.

Police said further investigation revealed the woman had a history of harassing the complainant and her family.

The 40-year-old Ridgetown woman was arrested and charged with criminal harassment and mischief.

She was transported to police headquarters where she was held pending a bail hearing.
