Multi-vehicle collision leads to impaired driving charges

Chatham-Kent police were contacted following two collisions on Bristol Drive over the weekend.

According to police, a driver struck one vehicle on the road, before backing into a driveway and hitting another.

"Further investigation found that the man was driving on Keil Drive and almost struck other vehicles head-on," police said.

Officers located a 26-year-old Chatham man and arrested him after determining that he was under the influence of alcohol. Further testing found that the man had three times the legal limit of alcohol in his system.

The man faces impaired driving and dangerous driving charges, has had his licence suspended, and has had his vehicle impounded.

Assault suspect surrenders to police

A 42-year-old man has turned himself in to Chatham-Kent police in relation to an assault case.

Police were investigating an assault complaint that occurred on Lorne Avenue on Friday.

The man was charged with assault causing bodily harm. He was released from police custody with conditions and a future court date of May 27.

Property stolen during b-and-e

Police are investigating after a large quantity of tools were stolen from a garage over the weekend.
