Man and woman arrested after 911 hang up call
What started as an emergency call in Chatham-Kent Wednesday morning ended with a pair of arrests after the caller hung up early.
Chatham-Kent police said they were following up on a hang up 911 call shortly after 6:30 a.m. Wednesday when they found a man and a woman who were both wanted in connection with a theft investigation in Chatham going back to January.
Police said the same man was also wanted for failing to attend court for other matters.
A 41-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and charged with theft and possession of stolen property.
A 41-year-old Leamington man was arrested and charged with five counts of possession of stolen property, five counts of theft, three counts of mischief, and one count each of assault with a weapon and uttering threats.
Both of the accused were later released with conditions and a future court date.

Man wanted for skipping court turns himself in
A 44-year-old Chatham-Kent man who was wanted for missing a court date in connection with a theft in Chatham from September 2023 has turned himself in.
CK police said the man was arrested when he showed up at Chatham-Kent police headquarters at around 8:45 a.m. Wednesday.
He was arrested and later released with a future court date.
The man is currently charged with failing to comply with an appearance notice, theft, and possession of stolen property.

Call about stolen vehicle leads police to wanted woman
A 26-year-old Walpole Island woman who was already wanted by police is in more trouble with the law after she was allegedly found with a stolen vehicle in Wallaceburg.
CK police said they got a tip shortly before 6:30 p.m. Wednesday that a stolen vehicle that had been reported to the Lambton OPP was on Lorne Avenue in Wallaceburg.
Officers were able to track down the vehicle and the driver and learned that the woman who was behind the wheel was also wanted for a DNA warrant and a break-and-enter investigation on Warwick Drive in Wallaceburg.
Police said the woman was arrested and taken to police headquarters where she was set to be held pending a bail hearing.
She is charged with two counts each of theft and possession of stolen property and one count each of break-and-enter, and failing to comply with a probation order.
