Police able to bring peaceful conclusion to 'person in crisis'
Chatham-Kent police say no injuries were reported after a 'person in crisis' prompted a heavy police response at the Charing Cross Road overpass at the Highway 401 Thursday evening.
Several police cruisers were seen blocking off the overpass at around 6 p.m. Thursday and OPP were also called in to stop traffic on the Highway 401 while officers spoke to a person who was seen standing on the concrete ledge of the bridge over the highway.
CK police said their officers "engaged with the individual, bringing the situation to a peaceful conclusion."
Officers said the person was taken to safety and is receiving the support they need.

Chatham man arrested for domestic assault
A 23-year-old Chatham man is facing several charges after police were called to investigate a domestic disturbance in Chatham and learned that the man allegedly had a history of assaulting a woman and damaging her property.
Chatham-Kent police said they got the call at around 5:45 a.m. Thursday and arrested the man as part of their investigation.
He's charged with two counts of mischief, two counts of assault, two counts of assault causing bodily harm, and one count of assault with a weapon.

Three arrests for failing to attend court
Police have caught up with three area residents who were all wanted for skipping their scheduled court dates.
Chatham-Kent police said the first of the three arrests was a 32-year-old Chatham woman who officers caught up with on Baxter Street in Chatham at around 11:45 a.m.
Officers said she was wanted for failing to attend court in March.
She was also wanted for several theft investigations and was taken into custody pending a bail hearing.
She is currently charged with seven counts of possession of stolen property, six counts of theft, six counts of failing to comply with a probation order, one count of robbery, and one count of wearing a disguise with intent to commit a criminal offence.
The second person wanted for skipping court was a 34-year-old Walpole Island man.
He was arrested by Walpole Island Police, who notified CK police at 2:20 p.m. that they had the man in their custody.
He was taken to police headquarters in Chatham for processing and was set to be held in custody pending a bail hearing.
He is charged with one count each of break and enter, criminal harassment, assault with a weapon, and failing to attend court.
The third person who CK police arrested yesterday for failing to attend court was also picked up by Walpole Island Police.
They notified CK police at 5:19 p.m. Thursday that they had a woman in their custody who was wanted on a warrant.
The 40-year-old Walpole Island woman was taken to police headquarters and was set to be held there pending a bail hearing.
He is currently charged with three counts of fraud, three counts of using a credit card without authorization, and one count each of break and enter, failing to comply with an appearance notice, failing to attend court, mischief, resisting arrest, and theft.

Wanted Chatham man arrested
A 21-year-old Chatham man who was wanted in connection with an incident late last month has been arrested.
CK police said they found him on Grand Avenue West in Chatham shortly before 8:30 p.m. Thursday and took him into custody. He was set to be held there pending a bail hearing.
The accused is charged with two counts of failing to comply with a probation order, one count of obstructing police, and one count of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
