Two of the Intercounty Baseball League's hottest teams to start the season will face off at Fergie Jenkins Field in Chatham Tuesday night.
The Chatham-Kent Barnstormers, who are undefeated to start their inaugural IBL season with two wins and no losses through their first two games, will take on the London Majors who won all three of their games so far.
The Barnstormers' first-ever season started with a bit of a damper -- their opening game in Brantford was postponed because of rain -- but they have since rattled off two wins, one at home and one on the road.
Barnstormers owner Dom Dinelle told CK Mornings with Chris, Allanah, and Matt on 94.3 CKSY Tuesday morning that it has been a dream start to the season.
"This is awesome... we didn't know what to expect, obviously a brand new franchise and we start 2-0, so that's pretty cool," said Dinelle, who also cleared up the official attendance numbers from the first home game on Saturday. "We announced we had 896 in attendance last Saturday... but the real number is 1,646."
Dinelle said the excitement around the start of the season has been fun to watch, adding that he also saw a couple of families tailgating for a few hours outside of Fergie Jenkins Field before the home opener.
He's expecting a good crowd again for Tuesday night's home game against the Majors with a special giveaway taking place.
The first 300 fans through the gate for Tuesday's game will get a Fergie Jenkins bobblehead doll featuring the Baseball Hall of Famer wearing a Barnstormers jersey.
There is also a special theme for the game: Retro Night at the Ballpark.
The gates for Tuesday night's game open at 5:30 p.m. with the first pitch set for 7:35 p.m.
