Robbery suspect shows up at the courthouse

A 62-year-old Chatham man who was wanted in a robbery investigation was arrested after he showed up at the Ontario Court of Justice in Chatham.

CK police said the man arrived there at around 10:15 a.m. Tuesday and was arrested on an outstanding warrant in connection with an investigation from May 9.

The man was arrested and was set to be held in custody pending a bail hearing.

He is charged with robbery and failing to comply with a release order.

Fishing pole thief caught on camera, then by police

Chatham-Kent police didn't need to use any bait to catch a suspect accused of stealing some fishing poles from a residence on Lafontaine Street in Wallaceburg.

Officers said they were called to the address shortly after 5:30 p.m. Monday and were able to identify the suspect after reviewing some surveillance footage.

The investigating officer was able to find the man on Reaume Avenue in Wallaceburg a day later -- at around 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

He was arrested, charged with theft and possession of stolen property, and later released with a future court date.

Chatham Township man arrested for public intoxication

A 32-year-old Chatham Township man spent some time sobering up in police custody after officers picked him up on Emma Street in Chatham Tuesday evening.

CK police said they were responding to an unrelated matter on that street just after 7:30 p.m. Tuesday when they found the man, noting that he was unable to care for himself.

Officers took him to police headquarters and held him there until he was sober.

He was issued a ticket for public intoxication.

Disturbance call leads police to wanted man in Blenheim

Chatham-Kent police have caught up with a 28-year-old Blenheim man who was wanted for skipping court in connection with some drug-related offences.

Police said they found him while they were responding to a disturbance call on Talbot Street in Blenheim just before 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Officers said they were able to confirm that the man was wanted on an outstanding warrant and took him back to police headquarters where he was set to be held pending a bail hearing.

He is currently facing two counts of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm/ammunition contrary to a prohibition order, one count of possession of stolen property, and one count of failing to attend court.

Chatham woman charged with assault after domestic incident

A 25-year-old Chatham woman is facing an assault charge after she allegedly hit a man several times while they were arguing in Chatham.

Officers said they arrested her after they were called to respond to a family dispute at around 10 p.m. Tuesday.

She was later released with a future court date.

Tip about swerving vehicle leads police to impaired driver

A 33-year-old Chatham woman will have to hitch a ride with someone else for a few days after she was allegedly busted for drinking and driving in Chatham Township.

Officers said they pulled the woman's vehicle over on St. Clair Road shortly after 10 p.m. Tuesday after they got a tip about a vehicle that was swerving on the roadway.

The officer who pulled her over believed the woman was under the influence of alcohol and performed a roadside breath test.

The woman was then taken to police headquarters for further tests before she was given a three-day license suspension.

She was later released from custody.

Early morning cyclist recognized as wanted woman

An officer with a keen eye managed to snag a cyclist early Wednesday morning who was wanted by Chatham-Kent police.

Police said an officer on general patrol saw the woman cycling on Prospect Street in Tilbury just before 3 a.m. Wednesday and recognized her from previous encounters.

The officer was also able to confirm that the woman was wanted on an outstanding warrant in connection with a mischief investigation, so she was arrested.

She was later released with a future court date.
