Two youths arrested for assault

Two Chatham teens are facing aggravated assault charges.

Chatham-Kent police said that they began investigating an assault on a youth that happened around 10 p.m. on Saturday.

Investigators determined that the young person was physically assaulted by a group on King Street in Chatham that night, adding that a pellet gun was involved in the attack.

On Monday morning, a 14-year-old and a 16-year-old were arrested and charged.

They were released with conditions and a court date on June 24.

At this point, police say the incident was not connected to the arrest of several youths at Tecumseh Park around the same time.

Fight between roommates results in charges

Chatham-Kent police have arrested a woman after looking into a fight she had with her roommate.

Police said that they were called to a Sandys Street address in Chatham for claims of an assault.

Officers learned that two roommates got into a verbal argument on May 17 that escalated to a physical attack. Police were told that a 33-year-old woman punched and struck the victim with a baseball bat.

The suspect was arrested and has been charged with assault, assault with a weapon and uttering threats.

Pair arrested after disturbance call

A late night argument between a man and a woman escalated into assault charges.

Police said they responded to a Sheldon Avenue address just before 10:30 p.m. on Sunday for a disturbance.

When they arrived, officers determined that a verbal argument between a man and a woman had turned physical. Investigators said that the woman assaulted the man, leading the man to damage the woman's phone.

A 35-year-old Chatham woman has been charged with assault.

A 32-year-old Chatham man has been charged with mischief.

Both were released from police custody with conditions and a future court date of June 24.

Wanted man arrested, facing new charges

A Sarnia man has been arrested in Blenheim and it turns out it isn't the first time he's been in trouble in Chatham-Kent.

CK police were called to Hall Street North shortly after 2 p.m. on Sunday for reports of suspicious activity.

Police said when they arrived, officers found a man with a replica pistol BB gun in his waistband. It was determined that the man was violating a weapons ban and that he was wanted on two outstanding warrants.

The 47-year-old now faces charges of assault with a weapon, failing to comply with a release order, two counts of failing to attend court, and two counts of uttering threats.

Chatham woman faces multiple charges

A 32-year-old Chatham woman is facing a number of charges including resisting arrest, escaping lawful custody, obstructing justice, and several Highway Traffic Act offences.

CK police conducted a traffic stop just before 7:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Police said an officer pulled a woman over on Park Avenue East in Chatham because it was believed she was driving while impaired. The officer administered a roadside breath test, which the woman reportedly failed.

According to police, the woman she ran when she failed the test but was taken into custody a short time later.

After her arrest, the woman had her driver's licence seized and her car was towed. She was released from police custody with a court date of June 24.
