Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) is reminding artists in the community and across Canada the deadline to submit their proposals to create an art piece at the Wallaceburg and Chatham sites is approaching.
The submission deadline for the initiative is Friday, June 7 with the end goal being to enhance the outdoor spaces at both locations, promoting healthcare, beauty and providing tranquility for patients, family, visitors and staff.
"I often say art, music all of these things, has a very healing component to them and so any time we can marry them with our hospital and our business is good for our patients and family members and also I would say good for our staff, physicians and volunteers," said Lori Marshall, CKHA president and CEO.
The selection committee is accepting applications for any medium, including graffiti, sculptures, murals, or even something more quote "out of the box". It just has to be durable and weather proof.
Over the summer, an artist or two will be selected by the committee which is made up of CKHA leadership, Patient Advisors, and staff with the hopes that the art will be up by mid to late fall.
More information and how to submit can be found here.
