Chatham man arrested for impaired driving after ditching vehicle

A 28-year-old Chatham man is facing a pair of impaired driving charges after he allegedly drove a vehicle into a ditch near Tilbury and then left the scene.

Officers said they got a tip at around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday that a vehicle had gone into the ditch at the intersection of Queens Line and Merlin Road in Tilbury East Township after it was previously seen driving erratically on the Highway 401.

The driver allegedly left the scene in another vehicle, but police were able to track him down.

Officers believed he was under the influence of alcohol, so he was arrested and taken to police headquarters for tests.

The accused was later charged with impaired driving and operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit.

He was also given a 90-day license suspension before he was released with conditions and a future court date.

Chatham man wanted for assault arrested in Wallaceburg

A 41-year-old Chatham man who was wanted in an assault investigation that started Tuesday turned up in Wallaceburg.

Chatham-Kent police said they found him on Wallace Street shortly after 1 p.m. Wednesday.

He was taken to police headquarters and was later released with conditions and a future court date.

Blenheim woman accused of biting someone during argument

A 20-year-old Blenheim woman is facing an assault charge after she allegedly bit and hit someone during a disturbance in Chatham Wednesday afternoon.

Police said they arrested her after they were called to the area of Campbell Street in Chatham shortly before 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Officers learned the woman had shown up at the address to retrieve some possessions when she got into an argument with another woman who was there.

Officers said the argument escalated to the point where one of the women bit and struck the other woman, causing a "minor physical injury".

The accused was arrested, charged, and taken to police headquarters. She was later released with conditions and a future court date.

Leamington man, Chatham-Kent woman seen in stolen vehicle

A call about some suspicious activity on Scane Road in Ridgetown ended with a pair of arrests Wednesday night.

CK police said they got the call shortly before 9:15 p.m. Wednesday, adding that a man and a woman were seen arriving at the residence in a vehicle.

The caller was able to give police some details about the vehicle and officers were able to use that information to confirm it was stolen.

Police caught up with both of the accused persons and learned that they were both wanted on outstanding warrants.

A 26-year-old Leamington man and a 43-year-old Chatham-Kent woman were both arrested and taken to police headquarters in Chatham first, then released to the OPP with conditions and a future court date.

The Leamington man was charged with failing to comply with a release order, possession of stolen property, and obstructing police (for giving officers a false name).

The Chatham-Kent woman was charged with possession of stolen property.

Windsor man turns himself in for assault charge

A 23-year-old Windsor man who was wanted in an assault investigation in Chatham last month has turned himself in.

Chatham-Kent police said the man was arrested at CK police headquarters shortly before 9 a.m. Wednesday in connection with an assault on Tweedsmuir Avenue West in Chatham.

He is charged with two counts of failing to comply with a release order, two counts of breach of recognizance, and one count of assault.

Wanted man arrested at the courthouse in Chatham

Chatham-Kent police didn't have to go very far to find a 52-year-old Wallaceburg man who was wanted for violating his bail conditions.

Officers said he was arrested after he showed up at the Ontario Court of Justice on Grand Avenue West in Chatham shortly after 11 a.m. Wednesday.

He is currently facing several charges including: four counts of drug possession and three counts of possession of a firearm/ammunition contrary to a prohibition order.
