Wanted man connected to stolen vehicle

A 30-year-old Chatham-Kent man who was already on the registered sex offender registry is in more trouble with the law after police linked him to a stolen vehicle in Chatham.

Chatham-Kent police said they arrested him after they got a report at around 10 a.m. Thursday of a stolen vehicle that had been recovered on Forsyth Street in Chatham.

Officers were able to identify a suspect who had been in possession of the vehicle and found him a short distance away.

Police also learned that the man was wanted on several outstanding warrants.

He was taken into custody and was set to be held there pending a bail hearing.

Teen girl arrested for assault

A 16-year-old girl is facing a pair of assault charges after she allegedly pushed two women during an argument on Delaware Avenue in Chatham Thursday night.

Officers said they were called in at around 10:15 p.m. Thursday and learned that the teen had been arguing with two women when she allegedly shoved them.

The youth was arrested and charged with two counts of assault.

Well-being check nets wanted woman

A call about someone slumped over in the parking lot of a business on St. Clair Street in Chatham led police to a wanted woman Thursday morning.

Officers said they found the woman just after 9 a.m. Thursday after they were called in to check on her well-being.

Police said they confirmed she was wanted for a theft investigation from May 24 on Wellington Street West in Chatham, so she was arrested.

The woman was charged with theft and possession of stolen property before she was released with a future court date.

Woman arrested for violating bail conditions

A 29-year-old Chatham woman is finding herself on the wrong side of the law again after she allegedly showed up at a residence in Chatham she had been ordered to stay away from.

CK police said they found the woman at an address on Tweedsmuir Avenue West shortly after 9:30 a.m. even though she had previously been released from the court with a condition ordering her not to go there.

The accused was taken into custody and she was set to be held there pending a bail hearing.

She is currently charged with two counts each of failing to comply with an undertaking and failing to attend court.

She is also charged with one count each of failing to comply with a release order, assault, break and enter, and obstructing police.
