Wanted Chatham man accused of hitting tree, pole while driving drunk

A 42-year-old Chatham man who was already wanted by police for skipping court is facing more charges after he allegedly crashed a vehicle while he was drinking and driving.

Chatham-Kent police said they found the man after they were called to a crash on Paxton Drive in Chatham at around 6 p.m. Monday where a vehicle had hit a tree and a pole.

Officers at the scene believed the driver was under the influence of alcohol, so he was arrested and taken to police headquarters for further tests.

Police were also able to confirm that he was wanted on a warrant for failing to attend court in connection with an assault investigation from June 2023.

The accused was charged with impaired driving and driving with a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit before he was released with conditions and a future court date.

Video surveillance helps police identify and arrest woman accused of theft

A 29-year-old Chatham woman is facing a pair of charges after she was allegedly caught on camera stealing from a local business.

CK police said they were called to the business on St. Clair Street near McNaughton Avenue shortly after 10:15 a.m. Monday for a theft investigation.

Police said they learned that the woman had allegedly gone into the store, taken some items off of the shelf, and hid them before she left without making any attempts to pay for them.

Officers were able to identify the woman by going over some video surveillance.

Police found her at 11:30 a.m. Monday on Wellington Street in Chatham and arrested her. Officers were also able to recover the stolen merchandise, which was seized as evidence.

The woman accused of stealing was charged with theft and possession of stolen property and she was later released with conditions and a future court date.

Sarnia police arrest man wanted in Chatham-Kent

A 24-year-old Sarnia man who was wanted by Chatham-Kent police for weapons offences since September of last year has been arrested now.

CK police said they were notified by Sarnia police shortly before 10:30 p.m. Monday that they had the man in custody.

He was wanted by police in Chatham-Kent in connection with an investigation on Centre Sideroad in Chatham Township.

The accused was taken to police headquarters in Chatham and was later released with conditions and a future court date.

He is charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and mischief.

Wanted CK woman arrested for trying to enter home in Shrewsbury

A 27-year-old Chatham-Kent woman who was wanted in "several investigations" was arrested in Shrewsbury overnight.

Officers said they were called to the area of Talbot Street in Shrewsbury just after 12 a.m. Tuesday and were told that the woman had tried to enter a home.

Police who arrived at the scene found the woman and confirmed that she was also wanted for on outstanding warrants for several investigations.

She was arrested and taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

The woman is currently charged with two counts of failing to comply with a probation order, one count of failing to comply with her release conditions, and one count of mischief.
