Neighbour dispute ends with assault, then an arrest

A 55-year-old Tecumseh man is facing a pair of charges after a neighbourhood dispute took a violent turn over the weekend.

Chatham-Kent police said by the time they were called in Sunday morning, an argument between some neighbours on Park Avenue East in Chatham had already escalated to the point where one of the neighbours was threatened and assaulted.

Police said they got the call at around 9:40 a.m. Sunday and arrested a suspect shortly before 6 p.m. the same day when he turned himself in at CK police headquarters.

He was charged with uttering threats and assault with a weapon and was later released with conditions and a future court date.

Wanted woman arrested after disturbance call

A call about a disturbance in Chatham ended up helping CK police track down a woman who was wanted on several outstanding warrants.

Police said they found her after they were called to the area of Wedgewood Avenue in Chatham at around 8:45 p.m. Sunday.

The woman was arrested after police confirmed she was wanted for failing to attend court and also in connection with some theft investigations.

The 42-year-old Chatham woman was taken to police headquarters and later released with conditions and a future court date.

She's currently charged with two counts of theft, two counts of possession of stolen property, and one count of failing to attend court.
