There will be plenty of doggy paddling at the Orville Wright Pool in Chatham this weekend.
The pool on King Street East will be opening its gates on Saturday, August 24 for the annual Doggy Dip in support of the CK Animal Rescue.
The event runs from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. and you do need to pre-register to take part -- you can book a spot by texting 519 719 0425.
CK Animal Rescue Media Specialist Joyelle Koch said there will also be different swim times for big dogs and small dogs.
"All of the proceeds will go towards the bedding of the animals we have in our care," said Koch. "Tennis balls will be provided and all of the participants are going to receive a goodie bag from Pet Valu."
Koch said the event is in its fourth year now and always marks the end of the season for the pool.
"It's absolutely ingenious... they do this at the end of the summer because the pool is going to be closed afterward anyway," said Koch.
The pricing is $10 for a 1/2 hour swim or $25 for unlimited time in the pool (which comes out to about 1 1/2 hours).
The CK Animal Rescue is also wrapping up another one of its fundraisers soon. The draw for the group's cash raffle will take place on Saturday, August 31 at 5 p.m. at the Tony Stranak Conservation Area in Dresden.
