Second ice cream break-in suspect arrested

Chatham-Kent police have scooped up a second suspect who was linked to an ice cream break-in in Wallaceburg earlier this week.

Any plans he may have had for evading police melted away when an officer spotted him just before 1:30 a.m. Wednesday on King Street in Chatham.

Police said he was one of two men seen carrying several boxes of ice cream on Lowe Avenue in Wallaceburg early Tuesday morning that officers linked to a break-in at a local business.

The man who was arrested early Wednesday morning was taken to police headquarters, charged with break and enter, and later released with conditions.

The co-accused in the case, a 64-year-old Chatham-Kent man, was arrested Tuesday morning and faces the same charge.

Both of the men have a court date coming up in September.

A warrant was issued for her arrest after police were called to investigate a call about a suspicious person on Lorne Avenue in Chatham on July 25 and formed grounds to charge the woman for breaking into the residence of a person she knows.

The woman was arrested Wednesday morning, charged with break and enter, and released with a future court date.
