CK police HQ makeover taking shape

CK's Municipal Mural Project is off to a colourful start.

Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters at 24 Third Street is the first location to see a mural start to take shape.

Artist Sarah Steele, who helped spearhead July's Can Jam event, began painting Friday. Her mural, already giving nods to Chatham-Kent's police service, agricultural roots, and strong black history.

Mayor Darrin Canniff and Councillor Marjorie Crew have both contributed $5,000 each towards the project from the Council Fund while CK police kicked in an additional $15,425.
