Roommate assaulted

A 27-year-old Chatham man is facing charges after he allegedly assaulted his 42-year-old roommate.

Chatham-Kent police said the victim, who is also a Chatham resident, fled the residence and reported the assault to police on Wednesday.

Police were told that the accused was still inside the residence and may be armed with a weapon, but that it wasn't used during the assault.

Officers tracked the suspect down during a traffic stop on Canal Street in Tilbury and took him into custody pending a bail hearing.

Two arrests on warrants

Chatham-Kent police managed to track down two more people who were wanted on outstanding warrants on Wednesday.

Officers said they arrested a 49-year-old Chatham woman on Grand Avenue West in Chatham just after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday who was wanted by Windsor Police. The woman was later transferred to police in Windsor for court purposes.

A 41-year-old Chatham woman who was wanted in connection with a theft investigation was also arrested on Wednesday. CK police said they stopped her on Park Avenue West in Chatham at around 4:15 p.m. Wednesday. She was later released at the scene with a future court date.
