One dead in Chatham-Kent motorcycle crash

Ontario Provincial Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle collision near Chatham.

The Elgin County OPP's Chatham-Kent detachment says first responders were called at around 3:30 p.m. on Monday to a crash on Communication Road and Fairview Line in Chatham-Kent.

The OPP said a man was located and rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead following the collision between a motorcycle and a vehicle.

Communication Road between Maynard Line and Park Avenue was closed for several hours so investigators could safely complete their work, but reopened around 8:45 p.m.

The name of the deceased has not been released out of respect for the family's privacy.

The OPP is asking the public for further information about the crash as it continues to investigate.

"Investigators of Elgin OPP would like to speak with anyone who may have observed these vehicles prior to the collision, who observed the collision, or who may have dashcam footage of the collision," said the OPP.

Anyone with information regarding this incident can contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122, online at www.opp.ca/reporting, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-84777 (TIPS), or www.stthomas-elgincrimestoppers.ca.
