A local group that's been around for 22 years is excited to put on a hometown show this May this long weekend.
The Canadian Cowgirls will be putting on a very patriotic, two-hour show planned for Sunday, May 18.
"Well, if you're proud to be Canadian, you can come to the Canadian Cowgirls Proud to be Canadian show, right here at TJ Stables at 2 o'clock," said Canadian Cowgirls founder and captain Terry Jenkins. "We have a wonderful tribute to our flag."
The gates will open at 12:30 p.m. and admission is by donation. There will be food on site, plus Canadian Cowgirls merchandise will be for sale.
Jenkins said they're excited to perform in front on all their family and friends.
"We're always on the road, but we decided because we have wonderful sponsors and our families rarely get to see us. So we thought, it's the beginning of the season, we need a good practice in front of an audience. So we decided, let's do a show," said Jenkins. "There will be wonderful games for the children, they're going to actually be in the show. We have our trick rider Kylee Nevills, we have a Liberty Act, something really magical with myself and my granddaughter. And we have the Canadian Cowgirls in their glittering costumes, they're daring maneuvers and fast horses."
Jenkins added that the show is a great way to practice, while performing in their hometown.
"We've been all over North America, to the Rose Bowl Parade, the Calgary Stampede. But rarely do we get a chance to perform here at home," said Jenkins. "So we're inviting everyone to come out and really see what we're all about."
