The Chatham Sports Hall of Fame is making sure local kids get a chance to try golf.
The group will host its third annual Drive, Chip and Putt Skills Challenge at Maple City Country Club.
"We have registration open as we speak," said Vice Chairman Ed Myers. "The deadline is June 14. The event is on June 21 at Maple City, 9 a.m. We are limited to 80 participants."
The free event is open to boys and girls between the ages and 7 and 13, and no experience is required.
"It would be good if they had some golf clubs, but we can provide those too if they don't. It's an opportunity to expose kids in Chatham-Kent and the area to the game of golf," Myers said.
Myers added that they even have instructors to help guide the kids.
"There will be instruction in the three areas: driving, chipping, and putting. There will be prizes to the winner. Everyone gets a t-shirt, everyone gets a golf visor, and lunch," he said..
All participants will be entered for a chance to win a golf lesson with John Dengel, former head golf pro at Maple City.
